Attempting to live an even more sustainable lifestyle – using more reuseables and also less disposables, and Pyrex is perfect for that!!!
I had been using plastic material Gladwear, Ziploc, and Rubbermaid containers, but acquired several issues with them:
1. Storing tomato sauce after which re-heating it inside the container colored them the weird color of fruit.
2. They are supposed to be microwaveable but I came across that after a few months of regular use, they had been useless — warped, funny shades, scratched, etc.
3. The plastic material scratched easily, creating chanels where bacteria might grow — eww.
4. I’ve examine multiple articles from numerous magazines quoting numerous studies about how microwaving parts release dangerous chemicals into your meal.
5. After almost a year of use, they had been beat and must be recycled — recycling will be, of program, better than throwing them inside the trash, but the method of recycling where possible creates pollution and not only that, I’d must go out and purchase more, spending additional money, which had been what We was trying to get away through. Good for that company, because these people got additional money, bad for me, the consumer.
BUT this kind of Pyrex set is great! 7 containers, 7 truck tops. LOVE IT!!!
1. I can reheat food inside the microwave (minus the plastic cover) and need not worry regarding chemicals leaking into my foods.
2. They perform great inside the freezer — we use among the small ones to carry ground coffee – we buy espresso beans and soil several nights worth at the same time, then pop the causes in the small container and to the freezer.
3. It’s Pyrex, so it is no huge deal when my daughter accidently falls one helping me put the bathroom away.
4. I are able to use them to carry raw marrinating meat, chicken, or fish without having to worry regarding them holding about the bacteria.
5. They tend to be dishwasher safe, just set the lids on the top rack only, and they emerge perfect, very smooth surface so that they are simple to wash.
6. I’ve examine other reviews saying they look good too, so they can go through fridge or even oven (7. Oh sure, they tend to be oven-safe also) to table because serving dishes – this really is true, if we ever endured a social gathering, I would’t think about using them as serving dishes.
8. They tend to be simple, which I really like, because I won’t have to concern yourself with them clashing together with anything (we have been a youthful family so we now have hodge-podge of kitchen things anyway so it does not matter right right now).
9. They “nest” with each other very effectively – we live in a little apt together with limited cooking area storage, but these kinds of containers, one stacked up in the other, with the actual lids isolating the containers, don’t use up any more space than my old plastic junk.
I use these CONSTANTLY, I cannot say enough good things about these. All of mine tend to be “in commision” today, except for one which is at the dishwasher. My one complaint is a couple of 7 truck tops and 7 containers is not enough, I need another arranged, LOL.: -) (I also have the loaf skillet w/ cover – very nice, small, but good, good add-on to my set).
